Restore a Shore power cable?

Anyone know of any tricks to restore a shore power cable? It has gotten black and stiff from age and UV. The black part I can figure out, (simple green or the like) but the softening up part not real sure about.

Thanks

Bad/burned ends can be replaced. Stiff cables means the water/sun has destroyed the insulation. Get a new cable, mainly because if the exterior is bad and it slips into the water, you have a shock hazard and an electrolysis hazard for yours and surrounding boats.

I have to agree with Bubba and Fireman. But...I restored one recently that I feel is still in good working order. I used some 3M Adhesive Cleaner to clean it up and then applied Armor All to soften it. Not all cords are the same, mine had a rubberlike coating on it that eventually turned brown from UV and became gummy.

Good Luck!
