I recently had to rebuild my fuel pump because one of the rubber check valves had disentegrated. One of the internal springs was badly bent when I took the unit apart and it broke when I tried to bend it back in place. I replaced it with what I thought was a good match to the original one. The first time on the water the boat did not have enought power to come on plane. I cut the spring down some and tried again and it ran better than it ever has since I have owned it. The problem is after about 6 trips the boat started losing power again and now only runs about 75% of what it should at top end. I have changed and adjusted the spring many times but nothing seems to help. I am confident it is something in the fuel pump but can't figure out what to change to get the fuel flow needed to power the engine. Any help would be appreciated.
