3.8L OMC sterndrive... what impeller do I need?

Could anybody help me out with this? I got a 1985 Spartan Charger with an OMC 3.8L sterndrive. Need to order parts to replace impeller/water pump kit. If anyone can help me out with this I'd really appreciate it.

you'll see an aftermarket one (Sierra or GLM brand) advertised on the webs and the ebays that can be bought here at iboats too. it says "fits all 1964-1985 stringers" (or 86 whatever) - even though that isn't entirely true, that's the one you need for your 3.8.
usually best to order the whole kit with the housing if you are ordering on spec before disassembly.
or, you can go to shop.evinrude.com and look at the parts book for 1985 3.8 and it will show you original parts with numbers, pricing and availability from an Evinrude dealer.

Thanks, man. I ordered this part, hope it was the right one: Mallory Water Pump Kit 9-45286. Got a total newb question for you... what's a stringer?
