Hi Guys,

My 6hp fisherman is starting to jump out of forward gear under full throttle, I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this? Trolling and reverse are fine with no problems. While I'm on does anyone know where to get a full powerhead gasket set from in the UK as I am going to rebuild and and paint her over the winter?

Thanks again.

That jumping out of gear is caused by a worn out clutch dog, and possibly the forward gear is worn out too.

It is kind of unusual on a 6hp. You must have a lot of hours on that motor, or are shifting it improperly. NEVER "ease" it into gear. Always shift with a quick decisive movement.

Surely there are Evinrude dealers in UK?? Go to http://www.evinrude.com/ and do the dealer search.

I had read once, that on the 7.5s and 9.5s late 60s through early 70s, that the clutch dog could be reversed. Not sure about the 6HPs, or what year yours is though.

The 6 HP clutch dog is symetrical, it can be flipped around on the prop shaft. That is assuming that the forward gear is not damaged where the clutch dog engages. The forward and reverse gear are not interchangeable.
