Hello, I have a '98 johnson 5 hp (j5rec) and was told that the mixture should be 100:1 and not 50:1. Does any body have any advice or information regarding this? Thank you very much.

use 50:1 100:1 is not going to give enough lubrication

100:1 will work as proven back in 1986 but other probs arose from that, mainly storeage or letting the mtr sit. As said, stick with the 50:1 using tcw-3 oil.

+1 on the 50:1. Evinrude replaced my powerhead under warranty when it seized up while stored in a garage for a few mild California months.
It ran very well on the 100:1. The issue is with storage.
