I am restoring a '66 fiberglass boat and would like to install a mahogany transom over the fiberglass transom. Suggestions?

Well you got MY attention!!!
Not sure I know what you mean though!!! We're gunna need more details and pics of the boat. Is this for Looks or structural? Inboard or Outboard? How big is the boat and the motor? Lots of questions!!!

Re: wood on glass transom

This is for looks' it's a fiberglass boat and I wanted to install planked mahogany (about 1/2" thick planks) over the fiberglass transom to replicate the look of an older boat. I plan to install a complete new mahogany interior fashioned after the early Lyman interiors and thought the transom would add a nice touch. I think I'll just bed the new planks in 5200 or polyester putty and screw the new planks to the transom (ship lap joints) and use mahogany bungs in the screw holes.
