How do I go about getting my boat out of the water and onto a trailer. the engine is not working. Going to have it towed to boat ramp but don't know the best way to get it onto trailer from there. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
John

Well all the times growing up I never once used the motor loading my grandpas boat. What you didn't mention is size of boat, type of trailer, and depth of ramp. Also the ramp your using does it have a dock by it that you can use?

If its a bunk style trailer sink it to wet the carpet than slide the boat on and winch it up, as mentioned in another thread use spray silicone to lube the bunks.

A lil more info and im sure everyone here will be telling ya a million and one ways to do it.

It is 23' Crist craft with an i/o about 3900 pounds. There is a dock near the ramp.

Heck with a dock there lube the bunks dunk the trailer and guide the boat up as far as possible than use the winch for the last bit. Gramps and I never had an issue with his 19' cuddy doing it that way

I think I would throw out a couple fenders... have the tow secure you to his hip (side) before approaching the dock. The tow should be able to set you alongside the dock with little problem. Tie her up, retrieve the trailer, and winch her on.

Good Luck!

It will provide a great opportunity to practice line handling!

Last time I had the problem (not quite the same size boat), I tied off to the bow cleat with two lines and pulled her over to the trailer with a buddy and winched it on. A 23 should be able to be yanked with two lines.

See if someone in area has a boat lift that can do it. I would winch it on.

Sasto has it right, just have the tow boat tie your boat off to one side. If the trailer is backed in and it is a wide ramp and if the tow operator is good, he should be able to pull the boat right up to the back of your trailer with no problem. From there, just attach the winch cable and winch it on.
