i have a 57 Johnson that I am winterizing. I just checked the oil in the lower unit and it is milky. There were no seals on either the vent or drain screws, so I am assuming that is where the water is getting in. At least I will install new seals and then set in a barrell of water for a few days to check. Question is where do I get the seals? Is it something I can get at a hardware store, or do I have to order? Great running engine!!

Any Evinrude dealer will have them.

Any outboard dealer will have them. They are universal to nearly all models. Install a new washer to each of the plugs with the new oil and run it for a little bit and check again for water intrusion.
