I'm looking for help with my 1987 L150ETXH Yamaha Outboard . The oil tank on the motor over fills. I have replaced the oil control unit and the float (twice) with no change.. Two unusual things: The new floats do not test good with the ohm meter test. I don't know whether the new floats have electronic parts that do not test with an ohm meter or perhaps something is killing them when I install them. Second thing when I replaced the control unit it was a newer version and required some new wiring. Although the float switch shows no continuity in any position to any lead (I followed the directions), the red light and crawl mode functions and the float successfully calls for oil as needed. It just doesn't stop pumping or doesn't stop pumping quick enough. The first go around I replaced the Float and ECU. NO change. Then I brought it to the local marina and they replace the float. Neither helped. Now marina wants to change the float again? Doesn't sound right. Any Ideas?
