I have a 1992 Bayliner with a 3.0l. HEI and a Mercarb. I have replaced the complete Distribution for a no start. Now the boat feel like it running out of fuel at 2500 RPM. I have replaced the fuel and overhauled the carb. Now the starter went bad and I am sharing for a new one to get here. The boat seams to run fine until you get to 2500 RPM. if you stab the throttle it seams to bogg down and then stalls out and is very hard to restart. Could my problem to the vent.

Run the boat off a remote tank directly from the fuel pump and see if the problem stops. Doing this isolates the fuel system into two parts and enables you to diagnose it a lot easier. Could be an anti siphon valve going bad. Did the power valve in the bottom of the fuel bowl operate smoothly, and was it removed and cleaned? Was the power piston operating smoothly without binding?

Yes the power valve was removed and cleaned and was not binding. I have not tried runing the boat on a remote tank I will try that when a get the new starter.
Where is the anti siphon valve located?

Should be at the fuel tank. Resembles a hose barb. Just out of curiousity, do you remember the float level and float drop settings? Should have been 9/16 level and 1 1/32 on the drop. Both set from the dimple.

The specification sheet for a solid needle 3/8 float level and 1-3/32 float drop that's what I set it to

Update to this thread. I found water in the bottom of the float bowl. I ran the boat on a remote tank and it runs great. Now all I need is some nice weather to test it on the water.
