Hi guys.

i have just replaced the stator in my J60TLCIH 60hp jonno. the old stator was almost split in half so i got a nother one from my local wreckers. was assured it was in working condition. engine runs fine so i assume its ok...But when the engine is running its not charging. battery only reads 12V running and the tacho wont work either. (it used to work with old stator).. all wiring seems ok... and I had double checked wire positions from old unit.

Have I missed something???

There are two electrical circuits in the stator, one for the ignition and one for charging the battery. So, the engine can run (ignition circuit) even though the battery charging portion is no good.

However, the problem is more likely in either your wiring or your rectifier. (OR BOTH) Time to get out the trusty multimeter and do some tests.

That is a 3-phase rectifier, so there are six tests that need to be done on it, and all 6 have to pass.
