help to identify engine

Hi,

just recently boat a small teal fishing boat which has a diesel inboard.

The engine is in need of a few parts and I really need help identifying the engine.

volvo penta has a web site, but I would go look on youtube at a diesel motor called, md1, or md 2. I think thats what you have really cool motor I would like to see the rest of the boat

Thanks for the reply John.

I can see where you're coming from but I don't think its a Volvo.
I've looked at all the pics I can of Volvo's but cant match it.

There are some numbers stamped on various parts of the engine.

On the head - 12111011
gearbox - 450-3180
block - 1612061 and then underneath this 151140

Also is a symbol which consists of the letter 'L' in a triangle, and elsewhere is the words 'SAYLON ENGLAND'.

The oil filler cap is in Spanish??

Does this jog anyone's memory.
