Backfire at full throttle

My engine has started to backfire on full throttle from stop. I removed the anti-syphon valve to see if that was the problem but still does it. It also has a slight hesitation. At low speed while docking i could feel it surging. Gas is fine, no water in tank. New fuel/water filter. Its a 1996 5.7 liter LX EFI TBI.

Change your fuel water separator and check your carburetor inlet filter screen. Also check your cap, rotor, spark plugs & wires. My boat backfired like that when the wires were bad, but I had already done the other things beforehand.

Does it do it at a specific point or rpm as your building speed?
