I have a Mercury Thunderbolt 20hp s/n 7130825. I have two questions.
1. What year is this motor or how do I find the year
2. This motor had some issues before it was given to me..threw a rod which broke a piece out of the crank case. The previous owner replaced the rod/piston etc and epoxied and siliconed it back together I have run it without trouble for 5 years but the other day it quit...slowly...just seem to run out of steam until it stalled and would not start again. (luckily I had an old 7.5 kicker as a backup and we didn't have to paddle the three miles home.) Any ideas where to start looking? It was not gas shortage..lots of gas ...even a bit dripping. Would air leaking into the repaired crankcase be a possibility? I haven't checked spark or anything yet.
