Got this engine started yesterday,I have to replace the impeller it looks like. got all the bolts off ,but still wont come all the way down.. was told the shaft under the carbs has a nut to loosen or take off ... Is this rite ?????or am i missing something else?? The bottom did come open but not down far enough, to look at the impeller or replace it......ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRCTD!!!! Like i said engine starts rite up ,but no water out the pee hole so.........:facepalm:

Gotta undo the shift rod, and yes, it's a connection under the carbs. Depending on the year, it may be a bolt or a spring clip. I'm pretty sure yours is the bolt...

Thank you very much chinewalker!! I just wanted to be sure and not break anything ..There is another question for ya if u dont mind...There are two bolts on that shaft... One in the front and one on the side ..Which one do i take off.I think its the side bolt ..Like to know for sure
