another newbie question.....'53 super fastwin 15012 head gasket: just put it in & torque down?

Or do these old engines need permatex sealant or some other sort of goop?

Inquiring minds...

The OEM shop manual will likely tell, but almost all OMC head gaskets are installed dry and are usually stamped to that effect. The cylinder head bolts should be retorqued after about ten hours of run time.

If the gasket says "use no sealer" put it together dry. Otherwise put some OMC Gasket Sealing Compound on it or Permatex # 3.
