Just got a great little boat at a great price. She has sat for about a year. The gas smelled a little bad but not terrible.

After changing out the gas and bleeding the gas lines and carb she started right up. Idles great. Revs up about 200 rpms fine, after that it coughs and stops if you try to increase the throttle more. This is by turning the butterfly directly on the carb.

Before I tear into it tomorrow, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or experiences like this.

Thanks!

OK, in case anyone wants to know....

You can not rev this engine without advancing the timing, so you can not just move the butterfly on the carb. You have to use the throttel cable, or the control on the engine.

In other words, the engine runs perfect, I was just reving it incorrectly...

Congrats on the new motor, and glad you got it figured out. I really like my '88 30hp. Enjoy!
