Dumb Question - Long Shaft or Short?

Dumb question - little new to outboard motors. But thnking of buying and putting on my 14 aluminum rowboat. Can you tell if short or long shaft? Any guess on year would be helpful - also. thanks

looks to be short..measure from the top of the transom (where the motor sits on boat) to the bottom of the plate .. +/- 15" = SHORT +/- 20" = LONG +/- 25" = EXTRA LONG

thanks called Mercury marine. 1989 short shaft.
