I have a chance to purchase a nice older fishing boat with a 1990 electric start 9.9 Nissan motor. It has not been used much in the last few years. I have read about the problems that ethinol gas has caused older engines like this and wonder if I should just pass on the boat and look for one with a much newer engine. I have had several boats over the years but before the bad gas problems became a condern Thanks in advance for any advice experienced boaters can offer.

Howdy, Z.

Welcome to iboats. :)

95% of the "troubles" you hear about ethanol causing are not caused by ethanol. Buy the outboard.

No. You should avoid buying it due to parts being discontinued for a 21 year old engine.
