Can you use an MC-1 outdrive on an Alpha One Gen 1 Gimbal and transom assembly? I have an 87 Fourwinns 160 with a 3.0 181 engine. It had a 1.98 Alpha one on it that was ran without lube and shredded to pieces!

I have read about people putting the Alpha One on the MC-1 housing..but not the other way around. Is this possible if the gear ratios are the same, or close for that matter?

The drive I had was 1.98 and I think the one I found (for a good price, which is why I ask) is a 1.84 (possibly 1.98 as well..).

Thanks for the advice!

Yes it will work, I have one. MC1 on Alpha One Bellhousing. Check the drive shaft length, depending on year they are different lengths, and would have to use your old Alpha one shaft with it.

Post the serial number of the MC-1 drive and we can tell you what the ratio is.

Thank for your help. The guy told me the serial was 2253054. From what I was able to find it was 1.98 if i was reading it correctly.

That serial number would indicate around 1967 era and unfortunately my program won't go that far back.

round top or flat top? (the shape of the top part of the upper) where the drive would meet the housing. different gaskets for both, i believe that will determine...
