This is a 20 hp johnson manual start. When acceleratintg it sometimes just revs-dies-revs-dies-revs-dies......(sounds like vroom, vroom, vroom) Usually shutting it down and restarting it solves the problem and it runs normal. This happens intermittently - probably every 10th time I start it. It has been occuring for over a year.
I rebuilt the fuel pump, swapped tanks, swapped fuel lines, etc. No change.
I am now thinking ignition or thermostat malfunction. Any ideas?
