Mercruiser 3.0L Head Compatibility

Sorry if this has been posted somewhere already, but I couldn't find anything after a little searching.

I wanting to know what heads will be compatible with an '88 3.0 4cyl Mercruiser. From parts catalogs I've seen, it looks like 73-89 had the same part numbers, but will a newer head fit and work? What are the differences?

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,...

Any head from a 2.5l or 3.0l, from the 1st motor to the most current production heads will bolt on, 'n run....
There has been many port sizes in different Casting numbers over the years...
They'll All bolt up, but of course, matchin' ports with the intake, they run Better..

Is yer's Off the motor yet,..??
