Thanks in advance to all that respond. I am new to posting but not new to viewing this awesome sight!!! Here's my issue... I just purchased a Whaler w/a 1982 90 hp Evinrude that ran fine for two trips then did not want to get up on plane (bogged down and skipped). I rebuilt the carbs and changed out the fuel lines. Still no luck. I checked the compression and all was even +/- 5 across all four (118). The port side bank spark plugs are extremely clean(wipe w/rag and they look new) as opposed to the starboard side which have acceptabnle oil/carbon deposits. I found that the port side power pack was not working as I had swapped starboard for port and the port was fine after swap. I cleaned the ground on the bad side and it seemed to work ok. I also noticed a lot of gray crud coming from the hub of the prop (unburned fuel/oil?) The seals for the gear oil are ok. I also had run a can of startron through several days ago to de-carbonize the engine. I had found that the port side head gasket was weeping water on the block so I replaced the gasket. (All looked good in the cylinder and piston when apart with the exception of it having a bit of carbon build up). I just picked up a new power pack and a spark tester to check the coils. I hope I am on the right track. If anyone out there thinks I should be doing something different please chime in. Once again, thank you for all input and I appreciate all feed back.
