12" radial or 12" bias ply tire which one would be better for highway towing?

in my last post i was looking at getting new carlisle bias ply tires
just found out they make 12" radials
i tow my boat 50 miles one way mostly highway

should i buy carlisle radials instead?

boat is a 16' starcraft with a 70hp evinrude and a 8hp johnson kicker total wieght about 1800 pounds
was wieghted a 1504 with a 40hp mariner when i first got it

current tires are 4.80x12 carlisle load c's

Radials are far far better, sidewalls much stronger.

.....and far less rolling resistance and thus less heat build-up!!

Another reason to go with the radials: Most ST145R12 radials are load range D and rated for 1220 lb @ 65 psi, while the bias 4.8-12 LRC are rated for 990 lb at 90 psi. You get to run a lower pressure to soften the ride for your boat and still get a higher load rating. If you still want to go with bias, get the 5.3-12 LRC (1050 lb @ 80 psi).

there really is NO reason to run bias, other than cost... Radials are better in every way.

I made the mistake of running bias ply on my tandem trailer...won't go that route again. I'll drop the extra coin and go radial this time.

well i decided to buy 2 new st145r12 carlisle radials with rims free mounting and shipping for 189.99

hope these last for awhile
