1986 champion refurb

i just bought a 1986 champion bass boat. shes in need of a little work. its got a gt 150 on it and i need to go thru it because the case halves are leaking. i wonder if anyone has any info on this boat 17.6 feet like wiring diagrams would be great i also wonder if anyone knows the best way to bring the finish back. clear coat polish, rubbing compound, ect. has anyone tried a automotive clear coat or a clear gel coat over the existing metalflake? thanks! dave

I have original manuels (including wiring diagrams on the 1986 Champion Bass boat I bought in November 2011. Would be willing to share info. It is 18ft with double console. Has 150 Mercury Black Max.

hi.....welcome to iboats...

as far as the clear over the gell or clear gell.......as with any paint gell job....the prep is the key....

we will need pics of that to properly advise you.

start a thread in the restoration section when you get to the gellcoat stage.....and we can and will guide you.
