I have a Michigan Wheel prop that has the number 001007 on it. Can anyone tell me what pitch this prop is. There are no other markings on it. It appears to be 15" The splines only go in 1 1/2" the rest looks like a taper.
I need a prop for my Mercruiser 120 hp 1983. I have tried a 14.3X17P and can get 3800 rpms. I would like the try a 15P and hopes this one fits. Thanks in advance.

Re: mystery prop

What boat are you running.A 120 with a 17 should be ideal.
You need about 800 rpm that would be about a 4" drop that mighty small.
You may have another issue.Could be as simple as the throttle not opening all the way.
Is the motor in excellent tuune, timede right and advancing as it shouild.

Re: mystery prop

The Boat is a 19' Grady White with a Mercruiser 120 hP 1983, Some of the problem is the outdrive. It had 1.98 gears but the drive was bad. The only drive I could find used was 1.84 gears. The drive came with a new Solas 14.3X21P. This gave me 3000 RPMS. The prop I tried was A 14X17P stainless and looked like a slight cup on the end of the blades. This turned 3800 RPMS and the performance was very good. The manual for this motor shows 4300 max rpms. That is why I want to try a 15P prop. I have this Michigan wheel but do not know if it fits or what pitch it is.
The boat has been rebuilt. New stringers, new transom, rebuilt motor. Motor specs out excellent.
