starting problems and oil from the prop

I have a 1990 40 hp with out pumping the priming bulb i try to start the motor i use the choke and no choke i know it is getting fuel i can smell it and there is spark good spark check that too , top piston is 107 and the lower is 103, and i alos have oil dripping from the prop, it isnt crank case oil that is clean and a think and blue check that too can someone help point me in the right direction if it was a chevy i would know what to do.


ALSO on the control side of the motor there is a cyclinder looking thing with a little orange switch on it what is that and how should the switch be positioned

I think what you are talking about is your choke solenoid. The lever should be positioned over the solenoid body. This could be your problem, if in the wrong position it would be on choke all the time.

what i am talking about the switch or lever is over the body but at the ramp when i had the cover off i was told it should be in the up position
