1966 Mercruiser 110hp i/o

My buddy gave me this boat, he said he had it running but when I try to turn it over the battery is sluggish, we swapped out the battery and still the same thing, we have checked for fuel and it is fine, we tested for spark, there is spark but not enough to get the engine to fire up, is there anywhere on this site that has a wiring diagram for the engine so I can make sure all the wires are hooked up correctly.

Well I have checked the fuel flow, I replaced the coil and terminal blocks and still not wanting to start it will turn over and try to start after a while, yesterday before I replaced the coil and terminal block I was not getting any spark, I am getting 8 to 10 volts at the coil and then it drops down to 6 to 8. I cant ask the guy who gave it to me because he is up in Alaska moose hunting right now, and he wont be back for another week, I am at a loss for why it is not running now.

Try running a jumper wire from battery + to the + side of the coil. Then try to see if you get a nice spark. Verify the coil is rated 12v and does not require a ballest resistor. Check your points as well and make sure they are nice and clean. Some 600 grit emery will get it going, but if corroded or dirty it is best to replace.

Before I changed out the coil and the ballast resistors I was getting almost no spark, the new coil I got is rated for 12 volts and now I am getting a lot of spark, the points are brand new as well he replaced them a week before I picked the boat up. I will be looking at it again today to see if I missed something or if something is hooked up wrong, he didnt have the manual so that is why I asked for one on here, hopefully its just a matter of a crossed wire or something loose.
