Size Prop?

Hi guys. I'm new to this community.
I just bought a 1990 Wellcraft 21.5' Cuddy with a Mercruiser 5.0/Alpha One with a 14.5x19 prop. The WOT range is specified as 4,200-4,800 rpm (If I recall correctly). The engine turned 5,000rpm (accidentally-but I caught it quickly) and around 47mph (per speedometer) on extremely smooth water (few boats were on the lake) yesterday. I don't believe that a 21 pitch prop could hurt anything but what might a 23 pitch do for more speed? I will rarely pull skiers.
On 'normal' rough water with lots of boats churning the lake the engine usually turns ~4,700rpm at WOT.
I realize that my thread doesn't concern any needed repairs (thankfully!) and I'm just asking for a 'best guess' from more experienced boaters.
Thanks for considering my question.

Check your tach. Smooth water doesn't usually increase rpms. If anything, boats are faster in just a little bit of choppy water.
