Hello,
I've got an 76 eldocraft with a 50 HP merc. I'm looking for a wiring diagram for the boat. I've searched this site and google for info about a wiring diagram and have seen several posts related to the motor/switch wiring. My question is where to I find the wiring diagram for the boat itself? Under the side console is what appears to be a solenoid, just one of the items I'm wondering about. Should this be wired to the acc post on the switch? thanx

Re: eldocraft console wiring

What the solenoid gets wired to depends on what it is supposed to power. If you are not sure it is a solenoid, we can't possibly tell you what it is for. There is a "Generic Boat Wiring Diagram" in the stickies at the top of this forum (not this page). Consoles are "very generic".

Re: eldocraft console wiring

Apparently I wasn't clear enough in my request. The reason I was asking if anyone knew where to get a wiring diagram specifically for this particular craft was to help me determine the actual components and how they are supposed to be wired... I guess I muddied the water by including a reference to one of these components, whose function I expected to learn by studying the diagram.

Welcome to iboats!

Unfortunately, the odds of finding a wiring diagram for your specific boat are low. There is also the complication that your boat is 35 years old, and there is no telling what previous owners have done to it. However, most boats are wired very similarly, hence Silvertip's reference to the generic diagrams available here.

Regarding the solenoid/relay you have found, you are most likely going to have to trace the wires to see where they lead. If you post a picture, someone here may recognize precisely what it's for.
