Mercruiser 3.0 mercarb flooding troubles

I have a 2003 bayliner with a 3.0 engine wich was just rebuilt the carb was flooding badly. I removed the carb disassembled it, soaked it in chemdip for 2 days blew it out with air installed a rebuild kit and a new float. The carb still floods severly I have taken the carb back apart and checked the float level and the needle and seat for trash everything looks fine any help would be apreciatde

Did you use the solid needle or the spring loaded one? I would triple check float drop and height. They are different measurements for different needles. How do the filters look? Could there be a lot of crud in the tank? Sometimes after a rebuild a good tap with a screwdriver handle will unstuck the needle.
