40 hp carbs adjust screws- 2 stroke 1994

i just go aused set of carbs from ebay... need to adjust them . where are the screws? any diagrams. Its a 1994 2 stroke , 40 hp , 4 cyl. Merc. any advise ? lol.

Take cowling off and look through holes in your oil tank, you'll see two screws on each carb. The top one is for adjustment. General rule is bottom out screw w/o any torque and turn 1 1/2 turns out. If someone wants to correct me please do, I'm no expert. Hope this helps.

you are right on- I have it little over 1 1/2 turn outs ( both ) and is running good in the driveway, sounds strong.
OTHER-
I now need to adjust the shift lever / linake. It wants to engage a lttle at idle, i have a manual , but these forums are better
