Hello everyone! I'm an all around gear head/computer "nerd" that works as a used oil analyst for Blackstone Laboratories. My hobby is taking things that are fit for the scrapyard and making something out of them again. I haven't owned a boat in years and just had one fall in my lap. $500 for a 500 hour Crownline and tandem trailer is more than fair! The boat belonged to a good friend's uncle and I've been going out/driving it around the lakes for about seven years now. It hasn't been kept clean, but it has been kept up. It was a channel boat, so I've spent much of the week just trying to clean the scum off the hull. Used everything from The Works, to CLR, to Iron Out.... the list goes on. This is not your ordinary scum, rather it's super-scum from about 10 years of neglect. The interior is not too bad since one thing uncle Dave did was invest in a good cover and keep the boat covered. Even the digital dash still works, though it does have some glare coat peel. I haven't ran the engine since I've owned the boat, but plan to change the fluids, plugs, etc this weekend and re-winterize it after running some idle time and heat cycles over the course of two oil changes. (There is above average wear accumulation from what I can only assume is a very long oil run in desperate need of being flushed from the system) After a good cleaning and an additional $1500 or so.... I'm hoping this will turn out to be a nice boat. Wish me luck and please offer any advice you may have along the way!
