Can not knock idle down below 2000 RPMs - all of a sudden

Started boat today and can't get the idle below 2000 RPMs. Throttle plates appear to be closed all the way and even checked compression. What's the best way to check for a vacuum leak? This is a 150 HP Johnson (Model J150STLCEM ). If not vacuum leak, what else to check?
