Are there any tips or tricks I need to know before I replace my trim pump motor, or is it pretty much unbolt and install? It's in a 99 Volvo 5.0 GL with the SX outdrive. The reason I am replacing is the when attempting to raise or lower the trim the motor sounds real labored and will only move the outdrive an inch or two before tripping the 50 amp breaker. The trim motor has never sounded laborered before this last outing, even though it would trip the 50 amp breaker with every 4-5 inches of movement.

Try to lube the trim rams before you buy.Spray WD-40 or any light oil.Cycle up and down.It might help.
Volvo part is gonna be way expensive.21573834 Volvo #.$800+
Try cobemarine.com They might have a kit or something.
You will need any other #s that go with it.Like SX-A-B etc.J

does the trim need to be all the way down, up, before I replace the motor or does it matter?
