Just curious on where i could find some performance parts for my 496 mercmag ie, headers or others that would help in performance.

Eddie's stuff is really high quality. He manufactures his manifolds etc. himself. Happens to be my best friend's brother-in-law.<br /><br />BTW, he hates brother-in-law deals . . .

so what would be the best bang or should i say go baby go for the buck. Nose cone seems pretty reasonable, but didnt know what to look for.

What year is it? Base 496 or HO? What is your budget and what kind of HP gains are you looking for? Headers won't do much as the stock Merc 496 exhaust is actually a pretty good system. HP does not come cheap! 1HP=about $75.00, and you will need a minimum of 20 HP before you will even notice it.<br /><br />Dave

its a 2004 islander 232 baja with quick and quiet exhaust. Maybe not so much HP, but top end and performance.

Maybe a better question for you is how fast is it now and how fast do you want to go? Have you played with different propellers? Is it propped right now? And as Dave from the OC has asked, which 496 is it? 375 (base) or 425 (HO)?<br /><br />Go baby go will be your cheapest deal. All of these other options are going to be pretty major bucks unless it is propped wrong, and that will still be $500 or more to figure out.

Hot Boat just did a build up on a 496ho with bolt on parts. Spendy project but it makes 525hp.
