What are peoples experiences(FACTS not OPIONS) about the aftermarket Transom seal kits???
Sierra, GLM, etc they are all over Ebay for half the price of OEM mercruiser.

Has anyone used them with success?

Would be using them on a 1977 Alpha 1

Re: Aftermarket Transom Seal Kits?????

I used one from an AfterMARKET supplier (not GLM or Sierra as far as I know, could have been???) and everything worked fine. I also used their drive re-seal kit and it was pretty good, no leaks and most of their seals are doubled-up. Actually, I've done this twice, first time about 6-7 years ago, then again when I rebuilt everything 2 years ago. The bellows were still good when I took them off at the 5 year mark, that's when they should be replaced anyway. This was on a 73 M1 drive.

One thing I wouldn't go aftermarket with is the lower shift cable, spend the extra $$$ and get the Mercruiser/Quicksilver kit.

I used 2 different kits about 8 years ago.Neither oem.No problems with either.I DO take better care of them than most do though.I would avoid Mallory brand.I have read horror stories about their bellows.Charlie
