Hi, I'm new to this forum thing but I have read some real helpful information on here.

I recently acquired a boat with a 1976 Mercury 1150 inline 6 cyl outboard engine. The trim works and it's real clean, but there is no spark . The motor just turns over with the starter. The choke works too. I brought it in yesterday and the mechanic thinks it's likely the distributor body (he'll run some tests). Apparently that part new cost him $500 the last time he had to order one. If it is that, does anyone know of a place where I can find one for less than $500 even if it's used? Does anyone know the part #? I do not have a manual for it.

Thank you for your time...

You can save a LOT of money by downloading the Ignition Troubleshooting Guide, FREE, from the CDIElectronics support pages and follow their very clear directions on how to test your system to determine the defective part.

CDI also builds and sells the replacement part, whichever one you need, a LOT cheaper than this mechanic is going to charge you.

Thanks! If it's a "distributor trigger housing" then it's about a $250 part, not $500.
