I own a '89 boat with a 3.0L OMC and OMC Cobra outdrive. The engine block is cracked and the stern drive needs new gears.

I have a chance to buy a similar year boat with a bad transom/floor with a 3.0L engine and Mercruiser outdrive. What would it take to convert my good boat over using the parts from the bad hull?

just a lot of time and a few gaskets, and reading. Park the 2 boats side by side. empty all the drivetrain out of the OMC boat, and transfer everything over from the Mercruiser boat. The transom cutouts are the same.
wiring up the gauges might get a bit confusing. Get each factory service manual to compare

With the season almost over, I'm planning on doing some of the engine work over the winter. If the transom cutouts are indeed the same, then I can afford time to make it work. Plus, in the long run, the Mercruiser should be a better setup (in terms of parts availability) over the OMC.
