Hello everyone,
Right now I am only getting sputters of water and steam from my "pee hole" and the occasional random steady stream for a second or two. I have a 1985 7.5hp mercury 2 stroke without a thermostat. Since I purchased the engine I always had a steady stream of pressure. Then one day it stopped, upon inspection I found my impeller to be completely torn up and all fins were gone. I replaced the impeller properly and tested it separately with a drill and it pumps out firm pressure with no leaks etc. my "pee hole" and hose/fitting going into the engine are clean. I can place a hose or compressed air into my flush and it will come out the "pee hole" strong, but if i place a hose or air line to my cooling pipe that connects to the lower unit I only get weak pressure out of the pee hole. and if I blow the opposite way i get weak pressure out of the cooling pipe. When I do this I also hear air escaping from higher up in the housing where the cooling pipe is. Water also flows strongly out of here, but weak through the pipe. I have flushed and run CLR through to make sure it was not dirt (engine has never seen salt water, and this happened once the impeller blew). I suspect that A chunk of impeller found its way up the tube... I have searched everywhere for advise, has this never happened to anyone!!?? lol. I am desperate. I am about to pull the engine off to take a look, but I am not exactly an expert mechanic and would like to hear some opinions first.... If this is what I have to do can someone provide some pointers. I really appreciate any help/theories/suggestions.
