poping in 8.1 liter at 4000 rpm

I'm getting a popping while I get on plane or at about 4000rpm.
there are no fault codes, if I
run at 4000 rpm it will pop two times,
run fine a minute, pop again then run fine for a minute.
I have changed the water seperator and fuel filter.
this problem happend last fall went away in spring and just came back.
my boat is a 34 searay twin 8.1 liters mpi, the trouble is in one motor.
fuel tanks are seperate for each motor.
please help?

When's the last time it had the plugs changed?

Not sure what you mean by "popping", but my 8.1L developed a slight miss last year. I replaced the plugs (it was still on the original plugs, 7 years old) and it's been running perfectly since then.
