shifting into forward grinds

Hello. I have an omc cobra 4.3 1990. When shifting into forward it grinds. I have the transom cable measured at 7 5/8 from crimp to center of the cable guide hole. When shifting to reverse its perfect. Any suggestions? Thanks

Pretty normal to grind if you don't do a swift shift unless you are talking about grinding constantly after the shift.
