Tohatsu 15hp auto choke problem

I have a Tohatsu MFS15B (15 hp, manual start, tiller handle). It's really hard to start... I have to pull and pull, and when it finally gets going, I have to keep it reved for several minutes, or it will die. After it is warmed-up, it runs flawlessly and will start with one quick pull. I'm thinking the problem might be the auto choke. Is there a way I can test this, or adjust it so it is working properly?

Thanks,
Mike

More than likely needs a carb cleaning. Do you run the carb dry at the end of each day?

The auto-by-starter solenoid is a simple heater and telescoping pin. It's not adjustable. It can be tested by applying battery voltage for a minute or so, and watching the needle move. They do fail occasionally, but rarely. If you determine that it has failed, order 3R3034100M AUTO-BY-STARTER ASSY $144.58. Grab your Factory service manual, available at any dealer (including me), Part # 003-21041-0 $27.58, and run through the carb, including testing the ABS solenoid.
