I have bought and tried a 13 in pitch prop and found the boat to cavitate. Is there anything I can do to the boat to stop the cavitation. 40 hp mercury on a 16 foot tracker.

I have replaced the prop with the 11 inch prop for now. I would love to get more speed. Top speed now is 22 MPH

I have smart tabs installed as well

If a cavitation plate is installed where does it mount

Any photo's of one installed

Re: sheez it

The cavitation plate is really an anti-cavitation plate and it is on the engine, the flat structure above the prop. The motor should be mounted where that plate is not too high or too low compared to the keel/bottom of transom. Also the diameter of the prop is important to keep within the specs for the engine.

Actually, that is an anti-ventilation plate.
