Well where to begin..

Specs is probably the best place to start. I have a 1996 Chris Craft with a 4.3GS and a Cobra SX outdrive. It ran decently when it was winterized and wrapped 2 years ago. Because of a divorce it sat that way until this year. Since it had been sitting so long I decided it would be good to have the outdrive pulled and inspected before I did anything else. So off to the shop it went. They found a trace amount of water in the bellows and replaced the gimble bearing, the bellows, and drained/refilled the outdrive oil. U-joints were fine.

Well took it out on the lake two weekends ago and in a full right or left turn I get a vibration. I brought it home and fired it up on the muffs in the driveway. Outdrive tilted all the way down I could hear a noticeable difference between it being straight and turned more than 3/4 either way including some slight tapping. So I called them up and the boat went on it second trip. This time the u-joints were replace. (I know should have just had it done when they had the drive off the first time. I guess I live and learn.)

So I got it back this weekend and fired it up in the driveway. I still hear almost a ticking sound at full right or left turn that is most pronounced at 2,000 RPM. Could be normal but at this point I just am not sure. I know those u-joints get bent quite a bit on turns and when the outdrive is up at all. I still have not had it out on the lake since the u-joints. Also swapped my stainless prop for the old aluminum one with no change. Figured it was worth a shot. One idea I have left to check is if it could be the steering ram rattling. It seems to be a bit lose but I am not sure what it is supposed to be like to being with. Any ideas overall?
