Hey guys,
My john boat has a 1998 40 hp yamaha motor on it. Today when I was driving it almost full speed I felt something give (did not hit anything) and lost all forward motion besides at idling speed. I thought it was a gas issue because it will do that sometimes at full speed. When I pushed the throttle down again it would rev at a very high RPM but not go anywhere. Thankfully I had my trolling motor and wasn't out further than I was or I might not have made it back. I took off the prop but did not notice anything out of the normal with.

The prop hub rubber has come loose from the metal splinned center and when you apply power it just spinns the inside collar.

a prop shop can press a new one into the hub or buy a new prop.
Probably best to do both that way you will have a spare with you next time it happens
