Hey guys, I'm new to posting things on this website but not new to the reading the forums. I have already semi restored this boat once and am on the resto train again with it.
This time completely revamping the layout of the boat. When I did it the first time I did not have any experience with restoring a boat and didn't do much research while doing it. Consequently, I did some things like wooden decks, spray in bed liner and not fixing rivets that have not been cohesive to how I use the boat. I duck hunt out of this boat primarily but also fish during the spring and summer months as well.
So the wooden decks had already started to rot 2 years into the resto.
The spray in bed liner did not stick well to the wood and added a lot of weight to the boat and I have a leaky rivet boat that has never been fixed and works my automatic bilge pump pretty good.
This being said the pictures I have here are from when I bought the boat, the first resto and what it looks like now that I have started the resto (sorry I don't have a better pic of the first resto). I have stripped the boat down to the hull itself and good thing bc I have found a lot of damage to the structure of the boat. All that leading to my first question, the picture I have last is of what I think are called the stringers? Correct me if I'm wrong, they connect the hull of the boat to the transom. Both are cracked at the interface where they connect to the transom. These I will have to re-weld along with a couple of the cross braces where the welds have also broke.
So my next step after this is to fill the boat up with water and find leaks and replace rivets. Is there anything else anyone would like to add that I should consider before I start to piece the boat back together. The overall layout is to look similar to the last picture here with the exception that there will be a deck on the back of the boat and not just a seat. Thanks for looking and all comments are appreciated.
