I have a 1981 470 MerCruiser in a 21ft Caribbean. Engine generally in very good condition, however it dropped a big end bearing and subsequently damaged the journal beyond being able to machine and use undersize bearings. I would prefer to buy a new or used crankshaft rather than have mine chromed/machined, but am struggling to find where to purchase one.
Does anyone know where I can source a new or used crankshaft?
Also, some sources tell me that all 470s had the same rotation, others tell me that 470s were made both CW and CCW. Can anyone set me straight on this?
