I bought a 93 bayliner capri 1800 and am looking ro redo the deck and stringers. looking through the ski locker there seem to be 2 layers of 1/2 or 3/4 plywood on the deck. Is this typical or has someone replaced the deck by simply adding another layer of plywood over the rotted deck?

Hiya WV -

Does not sound typical. Should be one ply piece mopped or sprayed over with fiber glass. I am guessing mine to be about 1/2". Can you easily separate them or push between them with a pry bar to see if they have been glued together? You might be looking at an inside lip around the locker to strengthen the edges so check further maybe around the bilge area or seats. One piece laid over another does not match so well as one layer should be in pretty bad shape.

Nope, should be one layer only.
