My motor runs great for 15 to 30 minutes, then quits. New fuel pump, old one was intermittent, you could tap on the fuel pump case with a screwdriver handle and it would turn on and off, rebuilt the lift pump, checked lines and pulled fuel pickup, all clean. If you can catch it before it dies, pumping up bulb makes it run fine. If it quits, pumping up bulb makes it run again. Have checked all lines (no problem, even pressurized line with 15 PSI and it held for 5 hours before I quit test), ran off 6 gallon gas can with 8 ft of hose, same problem.

If you put a funnel on the end of the line and fill with gas, gas sucks in and can see water seperator screen bouncing back and forth, top off funnel and it will pump fuel then stop randomly.

When pumping from either tank, internal or seperate 6 gallon, line goes soft and there is air in the line, again lines do not have a leak ?????

Was thinking fuel float in VRO or some how air is being pumped back into the line from the engine.

Computer also says there is no problems.

Computer does not read the manual lift-pump, #59 on below:

As long as that pump gets the pulses from the crank case and no broken membranes, leaking gaskets or hoses, it will work!
Somewhere between this pump and the tank, you probably have an air leak.
It may even be in the small oil-hose going into the pump?

FIXED FIXED

Problem was caused by a piece of debris ????????? that was huge, stuck in the VRO fuel pressure regulator. It was rock hard, about 3/16 inch long, 1/8 inch wide and about 1/16 inch thick. Looked like it was in there a long time as all corners were rounded off and pollished. It was jamming the pressure regulator in the closed position. Mechanic saved it and has no clue as to how it got in the system other than it has been in there a long time, possibly since the engine was built in 12/97. Anyway, it runs like it use to.
